The Coast Guard is proposing to establish a temporary safety zone from mile marker (MM) 469.7 to 471.0 on the Ohio River, from October 9, 2025, through October 12, 2025. This action is necessary to provide for the safety of life on these navigable waters near Cincinnati, Ohio, during the daily fireworks display from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. each day. This regulation prohibits persons and vessels from being in the safety zone unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Sector Ohio Valley (COTP) or a designated representative. We invite your comments on this proposed rulemaking.

The Coast Guard is establishing a regulated navigation area to control vessel movement for certain waters of Lake Michigan, the Ludington Harbor Channel, and Pere Marquette Lake in Ludington, MI. This action is necessary to provide for the safety of life, environment, and property on these navigable waters due to hazardous conditions resulting from increased vessel traffic congestion.

The Coast Guard will enforce the special local regulation on the waters of San Diego Bay, CA, during the Swim for Special Operations Forces on September 13, 2025. This special local regulation is necessary to provide for the safety of the participants, crew, sponsor vessels of the event, and general users of the waterway. During the enforcement period, persons and vessels are prohibited from entering, transiting through, or anchoring within this regulated area unless authorized by the Captain of the Port, or his designated representative.

In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the U.S. Coast Guard intends to submit an Information Collection Request (ICR) to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), requesting an extension of its approval for the following collection of information: 1625-0121, United States Coast Guard Academy Introduction Mission Program Application and Supplemental Forms; reinstatement with change. Since the last application of February 27, 2018, changes include updated submission dates and additional medical clearance questions for the application to ensure applicants are medically safe to train. The ICR describes the information we seek to collect from the public. Before submitting this ICR to OIRA, the Coast Guard is inviting comments as described below.
