There was a confirmed sighting of TWO North Atlantic Right Whales off the coast of Virginia, 08 APRIL 2024, in approximate position 37-09.0N 075-08.0W. Because whales swim continuously, they are likely miles away from the last reported position.
Mariners are reminded to maintain a sharp lookout. If found to be within 500 yards (460 meters) of a right whale, a vessel must steer a course away from the right whale and immediately leave the area at a slow safe speed.
